Eric Love Trio: Casting Underway

Eric Brady will soon have his own love triangle. Having previously reported that DAYS is giving the character a love interest, Soaps in Depth now has learned that the show is adding two female characters. Both characters will be between the ages of 18-25, and reported will vie for the affections of Sami’s twin brother. Casting kicked off in Tucson, Ariz., last month, at the NBC Daydream Tour ‘97, which drew more than 3,000 young women.

According to an NBC spokesperson, the two characters, Nicole and Taylor, will be part of a new family to arrive in Salem from Denver in spring ‘98. Nicole, a fashion model, will be Eric’s best friend, and Taylor is said to have a secret crush on the young Brady.

Of the 3,000 hopefuls, 50 were selected as potential candidates for Nicole and Taylor. The spokesperson emphasized, however, that the Daydream Tour was "a casting call, not an audition. It means that those 50 women will be considered for auditions."

Executive producer Tom Langan did not comment on how the new characters would interact with Eric, but did say that the coming year would be an interesting one for both the character and his portrayer, Jensen Ackles. "Jensen’s involved in some heavy storylines right now," says Langan. "He’s proven himself as an actor, so we think it’s time to take the character to the next level."

The 19-year-old star on the rise says that he is looking forward to learning how the storyline will play itself out. "I’m as curious as everybody else," he admits. "Eric definitely has a mysterious past, and I can’t wait to see what happens when it finally catches up with him."
